The Spellbreaker War:
Within five years of its inception tensions grew quickly between the different factions that made up the schools. The Elves believed that the magic of the Plainsmen was far too dangerous and suggested that the amount of their spark by teaching them magic in a certain way, a way that would prevent them from tapping the true powers within their blood, the same powers that helped them defeat the Validians in the First Great War.
Ledonel wrote the Law of Arinax in 7 CE following Arinax’s destruction of a plainsmen village. Khargynoth and Arinax disagreed with the ways that Sorbithia wished to stifle their magic and began an uprising that would result in a war that would last one hundred years.
In 106 CE the Spellbreaker War came to an end by the might of the new young king, Oswald Greyhem, who earned the moniker of ‘Wizard King’. The Circle of Twelve of the time took it upon themselves to rewrite the histories of the past hundred year war and began their reeducation of all magic users in the realm. They began this campaign by sending out their Sorbithian Magi to all corners of the world to identify those with the spark of magic at a young age.
The Circle of Twelve still operated in the present age and continue to have representatives in all kingdoms of men.
Geography
Sorbithia was originally constructed on the eastern shore of Greyhem following the founding of the fledgling kingdom. Five Towers were created by the elven twins, Amon’Quel and Ledonel and their cousin Cael Vaeili. It was their hope that the union of their magical essence would strengthen the bonds between the Solisteri Elves and the Kingdom of Greyhem.
The Five Towers of Sorbithia were created by the original Circle of Twelve to house magical archives, train students, and reside. The structures are all of pristine nature and convey many lost enchantments for protection and timelessness.
The Lexicron is the Seat of the Circle of Twelve and houses their residences through the use of space magic and pocket dimensions. The building contains waypoints for all civilized areas of Tenamyr and houses the worlds most dangerous artifacts.
The Grand Arcanum houses the largest collection of tomes and books in the world. There are sections in the Grand Arcanum that are only for the eyes of the Circle of Twelve members and much has been redacted by the Grand Historians for their private archives. It is said that there are halls upon halls of memory magic enchantments that can give the user a glimpse into stored memories of past magi.
The Tower of Novices houses the neophyte and amateur students of Sorbithia. They are separated from the ‘Adept’ students by skill alone. Age has never been a restriction to skill in Sorbithia.
The Tower of the Adept houses students and learned magi alike. The Adept class of mage are considered to be capable of utilizing their gifts in a useful and safe manner. It is here that most students find their specializing school, create bonds with their peers and receive missions from the Circle of Twelve.
The Tower of Amon’Quel was created by the Warpriest Amon’Quel himself. Until the recent events of the Second Great War the tower was sealed and its origins lost to the test of time. It was revealed that the Tower was originally used as a conduit to different areas around Tenamyr and used by the First Circle of Twelve as means to test forbidden and unsafe magic. It was discovered that The Tower of Amon’Quel was sealed in 8 CE by Cael Vaeili in an attempt to trap Eldromus Blackheart during his attacks on the Warriors of Light.
People and Culture
The population of Sorbithia has steadily grown since its founding and its people boast cultures from all over the continent as they all come to learn the ways of magic, remove curses, or acquire wondrous trinkets. The people themselves are very friendly to outsiders as tourism helps promote their economy, but the Circle of Twelve will rarely admit anyone into the Lexicron personally unless on official business.
History
Sorbithia was created by the Warriors of Light, specifically, the ones who could wield sorcery and clerical magic. Following the First Great War, the Warriors of Light knew that magic could be extremely dangerous and possibly catastrophic when wielded by the wrong hands or those who could not control their gifts. They decided to create the Schools of Sorbithia together with representatives from the Kingdom of Greyhem, the Solisteri Elves, and the Plainsmen of Vogul.
The Circle of Twelve:
In 2 CE the founding members of Sorbithia created a council of their wisest, with representatives from each faction and each school of magic. They created the Circle of Twelve to create and enforce the rules of their new school.
