Biography
Gerald Swordhand has a commanding officer of the 2nd Battalion of the Validian Empire under Arthur Greyhem’s command during his journey through the desert and his conquest of Orenthyl in the Drakkenwood.
Following Arthur’s rebellion against Validus, Gerald stood against the tyrannical empire and helped liberate the Validians under the control of Grindelwald Maultor and his Gauf during the First Great War.
When Vandar Rowan was creating the military academy at Sovereign following the war, Gerald was there to help train the first recruits, having extensive experience from his time in the Validian Empire. The first generation of men that were molded by the academy became the archetype for Sovereign’s perfect soldier for years to come.
During the Spellbreaker War Gerald led an expedition to the northern Gorgath Mountains to create a bastion in which the fledgling nation of Greyhem could receive a steady supply of building materials. Gerald discovered a rich subterranean cavern of the legendary mythril metal and remained at the encampment during the war to ensure their supply chain was not interrupted.
House Swordhand has been the proprietor of those mines since their discovery and Gerald’s bastion was named Miner’s End. His estate and the affairs of Miner’s End are now in control by his descendants Lord Ulric Swordhand and his son Belkas.
Personality
Gerald was known as a man without a sense of humor. He was always ready for orders or to take care of business. Though he wasn’t considered to be a cold person by nature he was often thought of that way by his students in the Sovereign Military Academy. Gerald spent his life building his house to one of the Great Houses of Greyhem and it has stood for a thousand years.
