A look forward

It’s been a while since our last update; two years, to be exact. In that time, we attempted to bring the world of The Great Gaias to tabletop with a D&D campaign setting. Unfortunately, our Kickstarter didn’t reach its goal, and we had to shelve that project. While it was disappointing, we learned a lot in the process and are incredibly grateful to everyone who supported the idea. Who knows? Maybe one day we’ll revisit it.

Despite this setback, the support from our players has never wavered. The Horizon’s End community continues to surprise us with feedback, bug reports, and discussions about both The Great Gaias and Gjallarhorn. These games have been out for years now, and yet, you’re still exploring, theorycrafting, and helping us refine the experience. Your dedication means the world to us.

With that in mind, we’ve just released a new update for The Great Gaias! While the game has been polished over the years, we took the time to address some lingering issues and improve the overall experience. Here’s a breakdown of what’s changed:

Update 3/03/2025

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed several triggers that could be skipped, including the Orgard camp, Celestial Realm, and Lost Cove.

  • Ensured key story events, like obtaining the Necromancer’s Gem, cannot be bypassed.

  • Removed an old pre-release text event in Alme.

  • Fixed the Orgard Teleporter inside the Sorbithian Lexicron.

  • Gerard teaching Atrius Mug no longer deducts 10,000 gold.

  • Prevented duplication of Pots’ Legendary gear and Arman’s Helm.

  • Adjusted NPC placements to prevent unintended appearances after major events.

  • Players can no longer escape key fights or bypass the second Valdraek wipe by using Rings of Rebirth.

  • Disabled unintended canoe entry via the shift key.

Quality of Life Improvements

  • Status immunity is now displayed when enemies resist status ailments.

  • Elaenia now properly removes all her equipment in the TGG Map.

  • Adelle and Laeni’s names now appear correctly in the Osirian Arena when unlocked.

  • More landing locations added for the Airship.

  • Optimized the Quest Journal to reduce stuttering on longer questlines.

  • Smoothed out NPC fading in cutscenes.

  • Added a warning in Ilbed about being locked in after purchasing the Sea Chart.

Balance Adjustments

  • Full-Sunder AP cost reduced from 100 to 60.

Something New is Coming…

While this update focuses on fixes and improvements, we’re also working on something new for The Great Gaias.

We’re not ready to share all the details just yet, but here’s a small hint: Have you ever wondered what happened to Virgil after he left the party? Soon, you’ll get to experience his journey firsthand as he walks the path toward power; and ultimately, toward becoming the antagonist you once faced.

This expansion will not only delve deeper into Virgil’s story but will also introduce incredibly challenging arena fights and brand-new legendary gear for players to unlock.

More details will be revealed soon, but for now, just know that the world of The Great Gaias is far from finished.

As always, thank you for your continued support, feedback, and love for our games. Stay tuned, exciting things are on the horizon!
