Biography

Vandar 'The Sly' Rowan grew up with Arthur Greyhem and Eldromus Cortlabar, under the watchful care of Arman Gill, which formed an inseparable friendship between them. They rose through the ranks together, becoming Generals of Validus. Vandar took many lives and often enjoyed his job of expert interrogation, earning him the name 'Sly One'. He sided with Arthur during the Rebellion and helped vanquish Emperor Maultor by feeding the Validians false information during the Great War.

After escaping Validus with Argyle Greyhem and Raenor Cortlabar, Vandar found compassion and lost virtues towards his journey to the light in caring for the children. Having found himself an unwilling ally of a young Ulgar Shinestone, Vandar found even more compassion while helping an age-long feud and establishing the first post in the northern Gorgath Mountains, a city that would eventually become Eldrethen, the dreaded City of the Dead.

Finally, by climbing Ghar Amal and purging himself of his malicious intentions by praying to Tantalasia, he was able to find the will to help defeat Grindelwald Maultor and the Validian Empire alongside Arthur Greyhem and the Warriors of Light.

Following the First Great War Vandar created the Sovereign Military Academy and trained the finest soldiers for Arthur’s new country including Raenor Cortlabar and Edgar Greyhem.

Personality

Vandar Rowan was known originally to be menacing and dangerous by nature, often though to revel in his torturings of the elves and even his own men. He was described as uncaring and pretentious, often not viewing anyone or thing more precious than his own existence. Though self-centered by nature it was clear that he possessed a great love for Arthur Greyhem, having followed him in his insurrection against the Validian Empire.

Following the Great War it was said that he found compassion and virtue in teaching young soldiers the ways of his mentor, Arman Gill, and helped formulate the greatest military academy in the Kingdom of Greyhem. It was said in his elder years Vandar was remorseful, kind, and helped everyone in any given situation. His memoir states that one cannot be judged by the sins of his past, only by what he continues to leave for the future.
