Biography

Born Eldromus Cortlabar to a noble lord in the Inner City of Validus, Eldromus grew up with Arthur Greyhem and Vandar Rowan under the tutelage of Arman Gill. Eldromus married a woman named Eloise between his tours with his army and fathered a son with her, Raenor. When Arthur decided to rebel against the Validian Empire, his closest friend, Eldromus, turned against him and the Silver Army, earning him the name of 'the Betrayer'. His son Raenor was rescued by Vandar Rowan before he escaped the Inner City of Validus.

During the Battle of Porthul, Sammael, one of the Gauf Warlords, granted Eldromus the power to defeat his enemies by sacrificing some of his men and transferring their essence into him. Fighting his former friends during the Battle of Porthul the rage of Arthur Greyhem prevailed and Eldromus, though enhanced through Sammael’s twisted gift, was still defeated.

Eldromus attempted to escape through the elven forest but was overtaken by Arthur and Cael Vaeili. The Elven Lorac cursed Cortlabar, calling upon the tendrils of the Abyss to swallow the Betrayer. After years of survival within the confines of the void, Eldromus was able to free himself of his prison. Though returning too late to save his Emperor and the Gauf Warlords from being sealed within the Tower of Ilyrium, he vowed vengeance upon those who cursed him.

Returning to the mortal world, coining a new name, 'Blackheart', it was said that he gathered the remnants of the defeated Validain Empire and hunted down and killed all the Warriors of Old, including Cael Vaeili and Arthur Greyhem.

Utilizing the one piece of Keystone he retrieved from Cael Vaeili, Eldromus was able to free a few of the immortal Gauf Warlords from their prison within the Tower of Ilyrium, including Zacharael. Over the next hundred years they worked together on a plan that would not only release the Gauf back into the world but also have them develop lives and personas to infiltrate every organized kingdom in the new world of Arthur Greyhem.

Blackheart rebuilt the Validian Empire since its fall during the First Great War and developed weapons and magics to continue the conquest his master began so long ago.
